One of the traits of Virgo is doing everything so well. This is your gift and your curse. When you apply yourself, you are unsurpassable. When you’re troubled, you easily lose yourself in the quagmire of your murky and harsh thoughts.

Sometimes being a perfectionist sucks.

When you find yourself troubled this Virgo month, and the 9 of Air says you will be, don’t indulge your inner perfectionist by spending a single sleepless night fretting the details. You know how this affects your intestines. Your IBS will flare up; your lactose intolerance will hit new heights and your eye bags will hit new lows…

But there is hope! The bonus for you this month is the likelihood of meeting your Hermit – in the flesh, online or astrally. Hermits are mentors, life changers and angels in human form that you chance upon for five minutes or a lifetime. They have a profound effect on your life in the most positive way. Whether your Hermit is internal or external, he is the catalyst you need to get you out of your head and into the world.

Freedom is found in the Explorer of Earth so kick your shoes off and go barefoot. Get into the garden and handle the dirt. Walk in the forest. Nature is especially healing for you. Make brownies or cupcakes. Decorate a room in your home. The key for you is to do; this is when you are at your focused best – immersed in creating and doing, not wallowing and catastrophizing. You are excellent at both. Be your own best friend and choose life.

Happy Birthday and lots of love!

The Stretch Tarot | J.E. Stretch | 2016

First things first, Libra, before we go any further: put your wisdom in the driver’s seat.

Alright, good. Now, let something go.

You know the one. That last thing you took on that moved you from multitasking maven to overwhelmed exhaustion. Maybe it’s the very first thing instead, and you’ve felt beholden to it out of obligation or guilt. Or get rid of that one false treasure you’ve kept all this time despite the fact that it hurts every time to look at. Let it (or them) go now, so you don’t miss what’s really for you later. Know that when you release it, you are not quitting, you are not selfish, you are not running. Too much in front of us can blur our view, mess with our perspective to the point that we are no longer sure what is real and what is imagined.

The release will allow you to see much clearer, particularly around your interpersonal relationships. Take care to notice the way power and control is wielded around you. Awareness does not necessarily mean that everyone is out to get you- though if you keep holding on to the unnecessary, it may continue to feel that way. Simply put, check if you’re the one holding the reins for real. Notice where you are holding on too tight and where you might not even have a grasp at all.

The Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot | US Games | 2009, Osho Zen Tarot | St Martins | 1995, Sacred Rebels Oracle | Blue Angel | 2014

Radiant, Elusive Scorpio,

This season’s Sun flagellates his children. It is the hottest moment before the great cooling; it is the escalated challenge before the inevitable victory. You wish to lay down arms and lie on desiccated grass, but you do not. The heat grows so great that it stifles your senses, but you press on. Why? Because you have come home to a formidable truth: you are the force of this oven. You are the source of this fire, and you will unleash your generative power into the world.

The muse perches on your shoulder, whispering sweet nothings into your ear. Sit with this inspiration, bathe in it, drink from it—it is the Fountain of Youth, make no mistake. And once you’ve been fully saturated in this electricity, make like a  lightning rod and ground it. Give birth, is what I mean to say. Create. Put your mind and hands to work in the service of your gifts. Act. Be the vehicle of divine construction. Do your art. Do what it is that only you can do, and do it with as much passion and fervor as you can muster. When you properly channel the element of fire, you’re an unstoppable force.

When gifted this juggernaut joy of passionate creativity, the world seems to slow around you. The paths and passions of others play second fiddle to your grand design. Check this. You may be a legend in your own mind, but there are more minds and more legends in the cosmos than you can fathom. Make room for them. Honor them. Welcome their art, nourish their gifts. Join ranks with your fellow creators and support them, for what you can do alone is no match for what you can do together.

The Fountain Tarot | Gruhl, Saiz, & Todaro | 2014

Energy: The High Priestess

Action: The Moon

When the High Priestess meets The Moon, you know there’s shadow work to be done.

Possibly the most subterranean cards in the Major Arcana, The High Priestess and The Moon work together to reinforce the importance of work that can only be done in the dark, by traveling back and forth between the conscious and unconscious realms. This looks like journaling, and thinking, and dreaming.

More than anything, it looks like paying attention. Honoring The High Priestess and especially The Moon looks like honoring where you’re at, and the work being done, not being discouraged by the amount of work left to do.

Remember that your job is not to make the waves stop – it’s just to take note, and to do the work. Your job is to embody the energy of The High Priestess – thoughtful, curious, open-minded – while the energy in the air brings up some of your deepest pains and greatest sorrows. Being still, and confident in the stillness, is what’s called for.

Easier said than done, right? The good news is that lucky Jupiter moves into Libra on September 10, empowering you (and rewarding you) for pursuing equality and harmony with others, as well as with yourself.

There are also two major eclipses that will help you activate your shadow work this month. A powerful Solar Eclipse in Virgo happens September 1. Mars and Saturn (both in Sagittarius) will square the moon, creating opportunities for some volcanic eruptions – pay attention to how your shadow work is manifesting in word and deed with those around you. Use the Virgo Solar Eclipse to look at the areas of your life where you have planted yourself – and perhaps need to do some uprooting.

The Pisces Lunar Eclipse on September 16 is all about committing to the emotional and spiritual growth you’ve explored throughout Virgo season, with the Moon trining Chiron (the warrior who emerges to bring us spiritual healing). Sit with the moon, look at the moon, pull out a journal and act on The Moon, one of your guiding cards for this season.

You’ve got a big month ahead of you, Sagittarius. But The High Priestess is on your side. Stay true to her teachings, and you’ll see the opportunity for great growth throughout the next month.

Think back to work, structure, or plans, that were building momentum in March, ones delayed when Saturn retrograded around 26 March. Begin to stir the embers of those fires. The past few months, we’ve been reassessing what we believe in, trust, and what adds deeper meaning to our lives. Events have manifested with the intention of guiding us to find answers. We may have faced delays or felt that goals we’ve set were beyond our reach.

As Saturn slowly moves forward over the next few weeks, some of these restrictions should gradually be eased. If we’ve learned the lessons that Saturn has sent our way, we can start to utilize our new strength and certainty to move towards our higher aspirations — those goals that align with our values and our truth.

13 June  ~ 17 November

As Neptune travels in its retrograde phase confusion dissipates into clarity. We can feel more sure and confident about what we are seeing for our future and how we need to act in order to manifest it into being. We are challenged by lies, deceptions, illusions, denial that we can no longer justify or hold on to. We can choose to lose ourselves in the morass of escapism and complete fantasy … or we can choose to start stepping away from the addiction to escaping, numbing, pretending, in order to evolve, grow, challenge ourselves to redefine who we are and how we operate in the world.

I Ching for Capricorn: SUNG (hexagram 6) / KUAI (hexagram 43)

« There is a great deal of unmapped country within us which would have to be taken into account in an explanation of our gusts and storms. » ~ George Eliot
Where things are – SUNG (hexagram 6)

Conflict; jealousy; stubbornness; aggression; fear; competitiveness; controversy

As the astrological energies begin to lighten up, we may be conflicted about how to prioritise, who’s in charge, what to do next. We may find we are butting heads, especially with matters of authority, as everyone struggles to restructure based on how things have changed over the past few months.

But just as they say it takes two to tango, let’s remember we have the choice to engage in the conflict or to employ discernment and compassion, knowing when to step back, give people some space, find our own room to breathe.

Let’s stay focused on where we’re going, rather than worrying about what others are doing. Recognise that it’s about being and doing things differently, not better than or worse than, superior or inferior.

change or evolution – KUAI (hexagram 43)

Resoluteness; determination; no compromises; unwavering focus; inner resolve; integrity; test of character; self-examination

This is the breakthrough that dispels tension around areas of conflict, the chance for people, situations and things that no longer hold value release and fall away. It’s time to take decisive action. This opens up clarity about where we really need to be investing ourselves, as well as space and opportunity for things to shift and new things to come in that will serve the building of the future rather than the reflection of the past and mere maintenance of the present.

Things will test us. The true measure of how we « pass » the test will not be about winning (at all costs) and losing. It will be about whether our character has been able to grow and stand strong, proud in the face of the challenge. We can get tripped up if we lose sight of what is truly important, what has real value and meaning, and distracted from our true purpose and goal just for the sake of gaining the upper hand or proving a point.

Alchemist’s Oracle | Connected & Free | Inner Hue | 2014,
The Wild Unknown | 2012

Oracle card: Base Chakra

Tarot cards: VIII – Justice, XIV – Temperance, XVIII – The Moon

How’s it going, Aquarius? This has been a big summer, and not always in the kindest  ways – however, you’re finding yourself past the “beginning” stages of something  that it was really important to you to accomplish, and you can feel good about the  foundations you’ve laid. Stay grounded by keeping in mind your Aquarian  uniqueness, and remember not to compare your budding results with anything  anyone else is doing! You are an innovator and your path will never resemble that of  anyone else.

This month is all about getting your affairs in order so that you’re ready for the good  things that are coming to you this fall! You’ve been able to reflect a lot on what  works for you and what doesn’t, and even how to overlap the inevitable darknesses  when they arrive to compromise your light. Reflect on your recent lessons, engaging  the newfound patience that practicing your personal authority has allowed you to  relax into.

You’ve finally struck a good balance, and are feeling the connections  you’d been longing for being made! Keep up the good inner work, and continue to  immerse yourself in your dreamworld as much as reality will allow. Of course,  maintain your priorities, and continue to focus on the exciting new spark you’ve  started! This is the part where things get harder as your resolve is tested, so stand  strong in the truth you’ve created and prepare for exciting results.

Indeed, Aquarius, love is on your side this month as everything you’ve hoped for  begins to manifest, all on your own steam. You’re feeling optimistic and almost  giddy as the clouds part, clearing with them the fear and uncertainty that’s been  enshrouding you. You’re feeling free from the suffocating mystery of how everything  was possibly going to work out, as the little shoots of progress not only sprout, but  show signs of thriving heartily for autumn harvest. You’ve created something  beautiful, Aquarius, so remember that as you brace yourself to hang on with all your  might to the peace and prosperity you’re bringing forth into the world!

So my question when I threw this spread was, “How can Pisces have a good time this month?” Every now and then the cards do a ‘duh’ thing. Like, er … “You really have to ask?!” At the center of the spread: The Chariot. Astro correspondence is Pisces’s elemental cousin, cardinal water, Cancer. Of all the Golden Dawn ascriptions this might be a puzzling one — know where you’re going, define your aims, focus, strive, achieve. The card seems full of yang… but think of fast flowing water. Big rivers, oceanic tides. Isn’t it a big-hearted person who can persist through any obstacles? Isn’t the heart, fueled by strong feeling, a great recipe for fulfillment?

The Four of Wands in the East, Venus in Aries, suggests a touch of fire amidst all this water. Maybe a really quality cup of coffee one morning — something superior to anything you normally drink — to do a little vacation planning. Come up with something sparky! And then the Nine of Cups, Jupiter in Pisces, in the fire position can reciprocate with celebration – and this can go all the way up to and including a well-lubricated party.

The Ten of Cups appears in the West where the water element resides. Yes Mars in Pisces, and no, I didn’t make this spread up. This card, aka The Lord of Perfected Success, can unleash an abundance of good feeling. Take the kids to the countryside, if you don’t have any kids yet, take the nieces and the nephews.

In the North, the Knight of Cups, the card that rules mutable water which we call Pisces, with a touch of the trickster from the last decan of Aquarius thrown in, speaks of a spiritual quest with a touch of frolic in it.

What’s not to like?

The Tarot of Marseille | Noblet | restored by Flornoy | Editions “letarot.com”

Aries, it’s not like you to doubt yourself. You’re the one who coined the phrase “first thought, best thought”. You’re happy to follow a hunch and take a risk. When the window of opportunity opens, it’s only for a split second – but for those who look and leap through, that moment is eternal. That’s you, Aries, at your best, on a  winning streak. This month, though, your luck may be feeling a little thin.

Thank the influence of Virgo for any second‐guessing, self‐doubt or counter‐ intuitive impulses you may be experiencing. The voice of reason has many guises:  your mother, your partner, a well‐meaning friend, even your own conscience. Give  her an inch and … well, next thing you know she’ll have her hand down your throat,  trying to fish out that wishbone stuck in your gullet.

If you’ve been feeling tongue‐tied or choked up, try this instead. First, catch up on  any lost sleep. Recoup wasted energy. Take a giant cat‐stretch. Open your arms,  heart and mouth as wide as you can, stick out your tongue as far as your chin, and  roar. There. Feel better now?

When you’re on fire, Aries, you’re unstoppable. You’re a sharpshooter who shoots  from the hip. There’ll always be those who’ll tell you it’s time to grow up, keep your  mouth shut, or quit that annoying habit you have of leaving your competition in the  dust. The lesson this month is to remember that you’re free to choose your  audience.

Now is the time to pick your allies and align yourself with those who truly get you  and support you. Don’t waste time and energy trying to change minds or convince  fence‐sitters. Name your unfiltered needs and the universe will answer you.

The World :: 10 Cups

“To see a world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palms of your hand
And eternity in an hour.”

― William Blake

Taurus, your word for the month is fruition. Last month or even over the last several months you’ve had ample time to explore your earthly realm. You tended many seeds of desire, of finances and security, of interpersonal relationships. You got to know what you wanted. This might have been frustrating (understatement much?) as there were most certainly times when you couldn’t have-all-the-things.

Whether with patience or restlessness you bided your time and above all else you worked.  You willingly hustled. Against the grain. Without the divine help that we typically find from the celestial taskmaster – Saturn. And now that this planet has ended its lessons in diligence and discretion, you head toward a more spacious future armed with information about what abundance means to you.

And it’s a good thing too; because nothing less than this would have brought you to the potential available to you in this month. Unlike the grueling toil of previous months, it’s time to hustle with the taskmaster’s blessing. It’s your chance to have-all-the-things. As long as the channel is clear and your heart’s desire known to you, you will have it. As above so below. With the ease of sunlight on a blossoming flower.

But how to actualize this fullest potential and make sure to fill every one of your cups? The devil is in the details –  the world in a grain of sand. Recognize that the little issues are metaphors and models for larger matters. Solve the small problems. Celebrate the minutia. Make a path through your life for abundance to follow, like tilling soil. Mimic slow-going Saturn’s motion allowing ample time to receive – infinity in the hands indeed.

You will see clues for what stands in the way of your nourishing light. You must find the will to remove those things.  The payoff is absolute completion. One way or another you will reach fruition. The manner and degree to which you bloom will be entirely up to you.

Dear Gemini,

CONNECTION is a key word for you at this time.  You’re very interested in the Mysteries and wanting to feel a part of All That Is.  You may even have found yourself attempting to make sense of your past and things that have happened to you; perhaps even finding correspondences with those in your lineage.

Let me tell you, if you haven’t already picked up on it, YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH.  Your ANCESTORS are going to be the key to this journey and exploration for you.  They have already been communicating with you.  Maybe you have started to pay homage by creating an altar and gifting offerings to them for their helpful service to you.  If you haven’t, there’s no better time than the present.

One of the things that I’m sure you’ve already started to see is that this whole thing is about giving and receiving.  And in due time you’ll begin to correlate your highs and lows and rhythms in general to what period you are currently undergoing: a time to receive or a time to give.  Furthermore, you will begin to see that giving can also mean a time to travel inward and give to yourself. It is a beautiful time in your life where things are coming to the surface, being revealed, and most importantly MAKING SENSE.  This is only just the beginning.  Bless.

Connolly Tarot |US Games | 1989, Seeds of Shakti Oracle | 2016

Hey, Cancerians!

Your adventurous spirit may be gnawing at your heels right now just like this super cute dog in the Fool card. He may be yapping away at you to book a trip, take that course or put yourself out there in some magical jumping out of your comfort zone and into the unknown way.

While magic can definitely be found out in exotic places, at big events and by saying yes to seemingly crazy opportunities, Namaste comes in to remind you that the magic and adventure is already within you.

I’m not saying you should try to get a refund on that trip to Cambodia, or Santorini, or wherever, but don’t waste your hard earned cash looking for something that you already have sitting in your sock drawer at home.

Ask yourself right now “what am I looking for outside of myself?” and write down, or just think of a couple of words that come to mind. Now ask yourself “are these things already within me?”

Travel and adventure always bring up stuff for us, it’s an amazing way to find ourselves and our path, but if you don’t do the inner work too you end up back at work on Monday like nothing even happened.

It’s all about balance baby. Book your trip, jump into something new and enjoy your adventures, but remember all the adventures you have outside of yourself are nothing compared to the adventure that is connecting with your own heart and fabulous spirit, and you can do that from anywhere.

With so much love, light and inside and outside adventures,

The Wise Fool Tarot by Cade Burkhammer

“I’m not afraid (I’m not afraid)
To take a stand (to take a stand)
Everybody (everybody)
Come take my hand (come take my hand)
We’ll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just letting you know that you’re not alone
Holler if you feel like you’ve been down the same road (same road)”

– Lyrics from “Not Afraid” by Eminem

Leo, your affirmation for this month is “I align with my destiny, fortified by the  support of my community.”

Your tarot allies for September are the 6 of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles. The overlapping symbol in these cards is the star. The star is ripe with meaning around soul alignment, hope, inspiration, destiny, luminosity, and guidance.

The essence of this reading is whatever you desire to take root in your life is supported by the cosmos and your community of choice. Choose wisely to surround yourself with people who are positive, encouraging, loving and willing to rise up with you.

In these images, we see the macrocosm of the community star potential with the microcosm of the individual star potential. This is a reminder that we cannot affect a  positive change alone. We are stronger and more powerful when we work together,  even if one of us chooses to stand out in front.

Dear Lion/ness, you are not a loner. Recently, something lit a fire in your belly and has compelled you to strive for something that will take you outside of your comfort zone. Let’s be clear that while you may feel called to plant the seed for your destiny as a trailblazer and leader, you know you can’t do it without knowing that someone has got your back. You are motivated and fortified by the support and encouragement of others.

This month, ask yourself:

  • What does support from my community look and feel like?
  • How can I serve the highest good of my community?
  • What is the highest potential of my vision and how can I meet it with the support of others?
