Right now in my living room there are two sets of couches, the remnants of a class I’m putting together, tubs of kitchenware to be donated, and hair product left over from a hair experiment that’s been raging for the last few days (It’s still in progress). It’s a creative hurricane here. Lately transmutation has been on my mind, especially with the astrological hullabaloo surrounding the change of the seasons. (If you missed it there was a super-moon in Pisces, a solar eclipse, and spring equinox yesterday.)
It wouldn’t surprise me to hear that other people are experiencing a pull to re-evaluate, re-organize, and re-create. There are a plethora of tarot cards that represent balance, harmony between opposites, transition and transformation. One of them makes their appearance in Aries’ tarotscope. This month’s picture features amethyst druzy and pyrite (a detail that would come to haunt me during the reading). I’m using Pallidini’s Aquarian tarot.
Temperance and Seven of Rods
The figure on the Temperance card in the Aquarian tarot is adorned in wild fabric and is positioned in an ornate cathedral. Think mythic bird-human in a church. Beneath long feather shoulder pieces are these small circular shapes across the mid section. It looks sort of like a bee hive. The small cubic shapes on the pyrite and small black flecks in the druzy kind of amplified this beehive affect.
I don’t like beehives. I’m one of those people that get overwhelmed at the sight of small repetitive holes. There’s a word for this. (Tryptophan?) Maybe there’s too much potential in the darkness of each of those holes. I never know what is going to come out of them. But there’s creative magic in the darkness of a hive.
Bees collect a substance, use several sets of motions, and that substance transforms into something else. They don’t need to think about it, they have mastered this transformative process. An onlooker might think the bees mad (or in my case horrifying). They may not understand the purpose or potential of each thing that the bee gathers and each movement that it makes but the bee knows better.
Temperance is like bees at work and Aries you are like the bees. It’s that moment when you strike a balance within: black is white, hard is fun. You are able to take everything inside, opposites and all, and create something new. You feel a great fire within, energy is welling up. The trick is to not let it consume you. It can be tempting to feel overwhelmed by your own perfectionism or maybe by the peanut gallery. Don’t let the critics fool you (the inside ones or the outside ones!). You’re the only one who knows what to do with that nectar.
