The CBD Tarot de Marseille 2010

“Magic is all about directing attention. If I didn’t want you to look at my right hand then I don’t look at it.” Keith Barry

Magick is afoot Aries. Even if it might not feel that way. Even though you find yourself clasping new and foreign tools wondering what you are supposed to be doing with them. Still, your heart churns with the realization of new desires. Your mind ignited with new ideas.

Three of the four drawn cards in this reading are face cards. Two of the three grasp an object in their right hand and look ahead toward the future. Only the magician looks back, tool clasped in the left hand, the domain of the unconscious.

Only in the cellular memory, and in the reptilian recesses of the brain, are you able to access the past relevant knowledge needed. It’s not readily available instead it’s buried deep in the gut. That said, you do have enough of a grasp of what you want to see what currently prevents you from having it.

You’ve always had a sense of it, but the obstacles will be clearer than they’ve ever been. Will you ready the weapons at your disposal? Your curious heart? Your eager mind? Will you dissect the details of your challenges and pair them with the solutions within your grasp?

Or will you despair? Submitting instead to impatience and frustration? Even you know it’s a bit early for that, but you can’t quite help it either. What else is there to do, faced with so much clarity and so much opportunity, but charge in typical Aries fashion?

And charge you shall. Toward the interesting someone. Toward the new identity. Toward previously uncharted desire. Face the future, Aries. Once you’ve had time to sort your thoughts, all those tools will make more sense to you.

You will be ready to deal the slight of hand like any skilled Magician even if that sharp instinct of yours will lie a little more dormant than usual this month, testing you. That’s OK. You will learn the way you like, by doing.

Sacred India Tarot – Rohit Arya – Yogi Impressions

Charming and tenacious Taurus, you will be focused on getting your hustle on while slaying your inner demons.

The physical aspect, represented by Seven of Discs, encourages you to remain patient. As if you weren’t already patient enough! Embrace a zen-like quality as you’re shifting through your projects. Take a couple of minutes meditating before going straight to work. Others will be observing your actions, so be mindful what type of energy you put out.

The mental aspect, represented by Eight of Discs, encourages you to reciprocate love, even in times of trouble. People will say hurtful things that can cause a damper in your spirit but pay no mind. Moreover, there will be those who love to take the passive-aggressive route. Remain with your feet on the ground. Even in this airy season of Gemini, you’ll need to stay put when people try to push you off the road. Nothing sucks more than having negative thoughts interfere with your ability to succeed.

The spiritual aspect, represented by Six of Staves, encourages you to fight back when necessary. Even if you’re celebrating wins – chances are, you will have those who will want to rain on your parade. A sense of humility resonates with this card. When you succeed, you may feel the urge to gloat. Just remember that not everyone will be on the same page as you.

My persistent Taurus, you have what it takes to turn the tide through the power of communication. Work on your throat chakra and let others know that you mean business. Do your own thing, honey.

Vivid Journeys Tarot, Jessica Alaire 2017, Lllewellyn.

Gemini!!!  Well, how are you, you beautifully indecisive creature?!?!  The focus of this month is for you to sharpen your sword and stick to it.  The Queen of Swords, the mother of “telling it like it is”, is front and center and calling every shot known to man.  She is cool, calm, and a little too collected if you ask me. She is mentally analyzing every angle there is to make her point, maintain her poise, and possibly cut off any stray ends that no longer suit her.

Gemini, with the two of Swords, you are coming from a place of indecision and possible anxiety as you have been presented with a situation that tugs at both your heart and your mind.  Emotionally, you feel attached to the situation, but logically, you know that it would be best to just remove yourself altogether.  Having to make the choice is going to be the hard part, but this Queen is reminding you to think objectively about the situation.

Pretend someone is telling you YOUR story.  How would you respond?  If you immediately cut a side-eye and purse your lips, then you know, it’s time to cut the fat, BUT if you roll it around in your mind and can understand another side to the situation and can come up with a solution/idea to change the current state of affairs, it may be worth the effort to hang in there a little longer.

The Knight of Pentacles is telling you to take your time with all of the above.  I know you like to have a clear plate, but this specific situation may take a little longer to suss out.  Gather all of your facts/information/resources and set out on the journey to understanding/discovery before making a rash decision.  The Queen wants to get things done swiftly as she wastes no time with things that are beneath her. But the Knight wants you to be victorious and completely whole (mind/body/spirit) when the “battle” is over…

« Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present, you need to live the question. » ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Watch out … because what you need may be coming from a direction or in a form that you hadn’t expected. Keep your eyes, ears, and perception open, like radar radiating out from you in all directions rather than just one. Pings of insight, bings of information, and tings of possibilities we hadn’t considered or looked for are likely.

There may be a feeling of being scatter-brained or absent minded. But that’s only because your head is chockablock full of interesting, innovative and new ideas and solutions. You may just be so lost in the reverie of what’s going on in your head that you forget to pay attention to the practicalities and responsibilities of the world around you.

Play with experimental approaches. Don’t take things so seriously that you lose sight of why you were interested or excited by them in the first place.

With Saturn Retrograde (see below), we’re being asked to come back to that inner child who asks the always needed but, oftentimes, ever annoying, « Why ? » and « Why not ? »

Question, seek out new knowledge and information, think outside the box rather than being limited by the comfort and safety (two things Cancers assume should be the natural state and aspiration of things) of the rigid boundaries, limitations, restrictions that keep us in a fog of narrow-mindedness with blinders on to not feel challenged or uncomfortable in what we’re convinced we know.

«More dangerous are the common men, the functionaries ready to believe and to act without asking questions.»

~ Primo Levi

SATURN RETROGRADE (5 April ~ 25 August)

Challenge authority. Whether external authority or that internal authority that so rigidly reminds us who, how, why we are and the way we’re supposed to do things because that’s how we’ve done them. All authority can be questioned, so let’s not take it personally if yours is as well. As questions arise around authority and chains of command, this can produce some fertile introspection in the months ahead. Old issues related to problems with authority or an authority figure may reappear in some way during this time. It’s asking us to create a new relationship with it rather than just remember how angry we are and shake our fists at the air.

This is a good time to look within and re-evaluate your goals, beliefs, and expectations around success. More aware of the responsibilities of life, it can feel like there’s a lot of work to be done, and not much time for play. But the work can be satisfying if the goals we are reaching toward are aligned with what we know will enhance the greater meaning of our lives. Saturn calls us to be objective and clear about what and what doesn’t work for us. Meanwhile, launching a new business might take longer than expected. Some work project may either be put on hold or send us back to the drawing table for refinement. Some ambition may need to be shelved, but only temporarily. We may have to go back and reorganize some structural deficiency or tend to more foundation work.

The Tarot of Original Rider Waite Tarot, U.S. Game Systems, 2012.

This Gemini season presents you with a stark contrast, dear Leo. You ride into town simply glowing with energy and goodness. Things have been feeling effortless and expansive. At long last, you’re showing your true self to the world.

You start off the month sharing your gifts and energy with wild abandon. Like a kid with a basket of rose petals at a wedding, you’re not holding back. It’s a celebration! A fistful here, a fistful there, the point is being decadent, isn’t it?

The flip side to giving is that we can often get carried away, swept so far into the happiness that we forget we need to care for ourselves too. Like the Sun, you have plenty to give this season, fiery Leo. But all that zest can carry you away from yourself, leaving you feeling tender and exposed.

It’s an abrupt transition, going from vibrant to exhausted. You may experience self-doubt and question your approach. Maybe a pinch of bitterness, too – “this is what I get for being so open!”

In your heart of hearts, you know this isn’t the case. You’re here for a reason and have a unique opportunity to adjust your approach. Like the figure in the Five of Cups, it’s natural to consider what’s lost.

Take a moment, replenish your energy, and really consider how you can burn brightly without burning out.

From here you’ll be able to pick up what’s left (and what’s proven itself to work best for you). This emotional check-in will propel you to a new place of clarity. You have a better idea of what you need to do to balance out your fiery enthusiasm. You know how to care for yourself when sharing your gifts with the world.

With these insights under your belt, you end this Gemini season looking forward, starting to plan new ventures with wisdom and ambition.

The Tao Oracle by Ma Deva Padma. Published by St. Martin’s Press, 2002

When you’re Emperor, that castle you built through hard work and determination can start to feel like a prison. The problem with walls is that while they keep out demons, they can also keep out our angels when we need them. Remember that angels come in all forms and guises. Many fairy tales are based on the premise of a wizened old crone scorned by some arrogant prince, only to discover that she’s a powerful figure in disguise.

This month’s assignment for Virgo, should you accept, is: how to ride the waves of change by relinquishing outdated theories of what strength and leadership look like. The truth is, we are authors of our own destinies. If we all step up and accept the responsibility of being instigators and agents of positive growth within our communities, we all benefit. This is an invitation to assume the role of parent, guide, mentor, role model or benevolent authority figure, as well as to relax the reins a little and cut others some slack.

There’s a paradox here, as with most truths. But if anyone can make sense of it, and find the perfect fit for each puzzle-piece, Virgo can. Virgo’s ability to make sense of the past to map the future is what great visionaries are made of. Yet it’s only when we let go of the past and allow the future to be the great, scary, messy, uncontrollable unknown it yearns to be, that greatness is possible.

Make friends with fear and self-doubt, and embrace the element of surprise. It’s time to inject the element of fun back into your daily routine and remember the reason you chose this life.

Charming, Harmonious Libra,

Gemini season sees your transition from light to dark, a journey that begins in the outer world and concludes in the inner world. As movement threatens to unbalance your scales, you may find yourself acting more extremely than normal as you search for your counterweight. Never fear, however—once this cycle finds release, you’ll regain that sense of calm peacefulness that feels so natural and comfortable. This is a time to grow, to shift your perceptions, and given the inevitable catharsis; it may be best to lean into it and see what you can learn from the experience.

You begin in a flurry of activity—social engagements seemingly crop up out of nowhere, and you’re happy to attend and engage in the interplay of thoughts and ideas. You may even find yourself in the midst of a collaborative work project, and your ability to mediate and champion consensus will be greatly appreciated. A sense of comradery and accomplishment lends you a buoyancy and glow that’s enticing and attractive, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself on the receiving end of some extra attention.

An uptick in zeal and confidence sees you much more vocal about your thoughts, ideas, and opinions as June dawns, and you begin to believe in yourself in a way that spurs you to take a risk or two. The outcome of this risk can’t be determined, so try not to be too harsh on yourself if things don’t go exactly as planned. Instead, point your momentum in a different direction—experiment a bit. Your willingness to be resilient in response to challenges will determine how far you’ll get with your pursuits.

This period of conviction and experimentation subsides as you begin to take notice of where it’s led you. For some of you, the decision you’ll be asked to make will narrow your scope within a certain pursuit, leading you closer towards a more specific goal. For others, you’ll be asked to choose between two radically different options, and this will cause a fair deal of stress.

Be careful not to choose to quickly in an effort to regain calm and control—you may very well sacrifice an outcome that you’ve been trying to achieve for quite some time. Be mindful of the goals that you’ve set for yourself, and be brave enough to make the decision that resonates with your highest good. Even though it may temporarily prolong a sense of imbalance, the outcome will be well worth it.

Ace of Swords | Queen of Pentacles | the fountain

My fellow intensely deep and sensually divine Scorpios,

With the Full Moon in Scorpio on May 10th, you really had to dig down into the depths and trenches of your soul, of your desires, and of your self-worth to determine what it is you want. There may have even been some endings in the air around you, and now you are ready to take things to the next step in moving on.

With the Ace of Swords, new ideas and refreshing clarity come in to save the day. There may also, however, be a need to finally cut ties with what or whom you were releasing on the Full Moon. What new information was brought to your attention? Where did you have to strive for truth and facts? Now that this has been illuminated for you, is it a deal breaker or is it something that you’re willing to overlook yet again?

By sticking to your guns with this and following your truth, your continuing search for clarity will not only bring you brightly inspired ideas this Gemini season but also some much-needed cash flow. The Queen of Pentacles comes to tell you to nurture yourself by standing your ground – especially when it comes to resources and finances. This newfound clarity or idea may even bring some profit your way!

The Fountain shows that the possibilities are endless. Each little droplet an opportunity, a wish just waiting to be fulfilled. Spend time keeping your energy clear to help this potential income flowing easily and steadily. Spend time in the in-between as well. Meditate, connect with your guides, your intuitive self, and with Source. Understand that all you wish for already exists and is on its way to you. Do you trust this, my secretive, suspicious, and private Scorpio? The Universe thinks you should.

From my soul to yours,
xo Ariel

Slow Holler Tarot 2016

Sagittarius babes, you are tempted to push yourself to your absolute limit this month. Right now is a time to let your heart rule and to learn to rest where it’s comfortable to do so, but that fire inside burns brightly, screaming at you to do more and work harder and be more things to more people.

On top of that, your heart ruling means other people’s problems easily become yours now, and there’s a risk of burnout or a regression into codependent behaviors. We don’t want all that beautiful Sag fire to burn out though, and there are a couple of ways to avoid that this month.

For starters, you are so loved. There is a delicate balance in your relationships that is in no danger of tipping off center right now. You can give back to those who need you now by learning to accept help from others when you need it. Not everyone needs your heart to bleed, and I think it will feel disingenuous to tune out the cries of your community or a loved one in pain this month. Find the people and the places that are safe and comfortable for you, and really nestle down and rest there when you’re not out lighting fires for other friends who don’t have a warm spot right now.

You may need to get out of town to clear your head, or it may even be time to think about creating new spaces where you can just be. There’s a calling in your soul to wander, and while we don’t want to add too much to do and risk that burnout further, exploring new spaces keeps your philosopher mind strong while allowing you to focus on your own needs and fanning those tired flames of yours.

Eventually, you’re headed for an epiphany where a new type of space is created for those hurting to feel secure and where you have a direct energy to pour yourself into (and take back from!) when needed.

The Ace of Vessels oversees your whole reading. Even with that epiphany in the latter half of the month, there’s a time to open yourself totally up, and a time to stay in control of your emotions. Your task this month is to learn that balance.

Expect people you never knew cared to show their true selves right now, and stay open to new loves and sources of light. That Ten of Wands overseeing the whole reading is a staunch warning—but you’ve got a giant heart and your feet firmly planted on the floor this time. Learning when to lean in or out of those things is the task now.

Tarot Mucha, Lo Scarebo 2015
Astrological Oracle Cards, Llewellyn 2012
Nature Speak Oracle, Dragonhawk Publishing 2006

Oracle Cards: Venus + Lily | Trust in your efforts
Release: 9 of Pentacles reversed
Increase: 2 of Cups
Advice: Page of Swords

Oh, Capricorn, here we are, with spring fully sprung and summer is starting to fill the air! And yet, you can’t help but continue to feel the chill of winter, as you’re challenged to feel proud of your efforts of late. In fact, you wish you could scrap it all and start fresh, somewhere else, doing something else – anything but the current sense of stagnation you feel.

Questioning your skillset is not a familiar feeling for you, and it’s opening inner doors and showing you sides of yourself that you’ve worked hard at keeping hidden for so long! As a result, you may have acted in ways that feel damaging to your life and relationships. You may be feeling like you’ve messed up beyond reconciliation, and like you’re at the end of the road for this chapter!

Well, you know, in a sense you are – but not in such a way that your relationships can’t be salvaged! Rather, this is an opportunity to strengthen that area of your life, as your loved ones are sensitive to what you’re going through but haven’t known how to approach you when you’re so upset. They want to give you the support you need!

You are being presented with an opportunity to come up with an entirely new way of thinking and verbalizing what you need at this point. You must find a way to be comfortable in your current situation, so turn to all the sources of external validation you can: your partner, your family, and even better, friends who can boost your self-image and help you relax.

While it may feel like you haven’t been achieving anything (or at least not anything to fit your own standards for yourself!), it’s time to step back and find a way to trust in your efforts. Know that you have taken the necessary steps to work towards a goal you have held deep in your heart – it’s just taking time for everything to fall into place. Trust that things are working out for you, and instead of focusing on the end goal, work on reigniting your passion for the moment.

Just as they say “love always finds a way,” so will you! While you want to expand now (and quickly!) the time is not right. Keep it simple at the moment, count your blessings, smell the roses: all the good things that keep you in touch with life and love! Enjoy what you’re doing now however you can, because even if it doesn’t feel like it, it’s the beginning of something wonderful!

Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, 1993 edition, William Rider Ltd

Even when it seems that life can’t get any worse, the fixed nature of Aquarius stays the course and never gives up. Gemini season brings a triumphant victory over a period of darkness.

In the TEN OF SWORDS, we see a rather gruesome scene of a bloody murder. Corresponding to the Sun in Gemini, this card shows us that too much thinking and talking can utterly destroy a situation by revealing the truth behind it. On the downside, such situations yield a lot of pain. But the truth was always there. Once you see it, you are completely liberated from something that was not meant for you.

The low points in life just make the highs sweeter. The SIX OF WANDS suggests that you are being called on to focus on the bright side of a dark situation. Whatever happened, it was a blessing in disguise because it gave you an opportunity to test your mettle and emerge a victor.

The simple act of staying positive is in and of itself evidence of your bravery and winning attitude. And with the Six of Wands corresponding to Jupiter in Leo, now really is your time to shine. Bask in the support of your friends and allies. No matter how bad things get, they’ve always got your back.

The SIX OF SWORDS shows a smooth transition to a better place in life. Corresponding to Mercury in Aquarius, the image of this card is reminiscent of Mercury the psycho pomp guiding souls across the River Styx. Every death yields rebirth and a chance to start over again. These next four weeks offer a transitional period to think about the person you are becoming. Be thankful for your blessings, because right now you’ve got all the support you need to get there.

Secrets of the Mystic Grove. U.S. Games Systems Inc, 2017

Greetings fellow Mercreatures. I’m going to answer the question as follows. What three things do my Pisceans need to be aware of for this Tarotscopes cycle? I’m using the Secrets of the Mystic Grove (U.S. Games Systems Inc, 2017) to explore the mysteries that await us.

First up is card 18 Council. Here we see keywords of Group, Meeting, Advisors. A young woman is surrounded by a rather diverse group of creatures. From the owl in the tree to the fox she cradles, all of these animals bring her advice. The thing to remember is that not all of them have the same end in mind. While the ostrich may be counseling against any rash actions, the cheetah could be urging for speed. It’s a good thing to seek the wisdom of your tribe, but never forget that you are the one who makes the decisions in the long run. Sometimes we must say to our well-meaning friends, “Thanks for your input. I’m a grown-ass adult, so the final call is mine.”

Next is card 34 Community. Again we have a message that incorporates our chosen family. With keywords of Contribute, Communication, and Tribe, be aware of your own involvement in a wider-reaching effort. Tribe is comprised of those you choose. Pick wisely. Again, do not let others insist or push so that you feel obligated to accept someone into your tribe. See the last statement above about the final call being yours. It is good to grow your Tribe, but please make sure you honor yourself by choosing wisely.

Our final card is 35 Rewards. Abundance, Bounty, Sharing are the keywords for this card. The bear is watched by five quail. They help the bear find the pomegranates because they know that there will be enough for all. The third thing to watch for this cycle is the chance to be bountiful. Again, this is a card that points to our interaction with other. This cycle of the wheel will bring us the chance to get advice that we can share with your community so that we can all share in the bounty. Be prepared to envelop those who get you on a “soul-uler” level. Do not waste your precious, sacred self on those who do not nourish you.
